The world has plunged into a serious medical emergency by the pandemic declared by W. H. O with the sudden outbreak of Corona Virus disease. The deadly outbreak of Corona Virus has claimed millions of lives and infected many more in COVID-19.
• Origin of COVID-19
The Corona Virus is a family of viruses that can cause a range of illness in humans including common cold, fever, cough, respiratory disorders and more severe forms like SARS and MERS are life-threatening. The virus is named after it’s shape which takes the shape of crown with augmentation around it.
The recent outbreak of Corona Virus is believed to have occurred in the Central China city of Wuhan. Since it is a new strain, the whole world is to combat to discover specific medicine or vaccine. So most of the countries have come under the system of lockdown. However, it is too late. The virus has spread to all the countries except Antartica.
• Impact of COVID-19
Worries were mounted up as the death-tolls were increasing day by day. The hasty announcement of countrywide lockdown left hundreds of thousands jobless, homeless, hungry, financial difficulties. The studies of the students have received a great set back during the COVID-19 situation. Students are locked in their houses as the educational institutions are being closed.
• Measures to be Taken
Though the phase-wise vaccination drive has been started through out the world, but certainly it is a time consuming process. So the best thing that we can do is to abide by certain precautionary measures such as maintaining social distancing, wearing face mask, washing hands with soap or sanitizer, disinfecting our homes and working places and take vaccine. Thus, the COVID-19 will be removed and the normalcy will take its place very soon.
